Head of Growth
StimScience is a startup with a mission to translate advances in neuroscience into everyday consumer devices. Our science team consists of some of the best cognitive researchers and sleep scientists in the world, including Dr. Matthew Walker, professor of neuroscience at UC Berkeley and bestselling author of Why We Sleep. We have spent the past 3+ years pioneering applications of non-invasive, personalized brain stimulation. With funding from Khosla Ventures, we are building a team to launch the initial product of this breakthrough research - the first consumer wearable to help your brain to naturally achieve a longer, higher-quality night’s sleep.
We are looking for a head of growth to own the launch of our consumer product and service, and to build and lead our growth marketing team. You’ll build a growth engine for a new category of consumer health wearable, from customer 1 to customer 1-million. This is a uniquely impactful and challenging role. The impact: 1 in 3 adults struggles with sleep, and poor sleep health has been directly linked to risks of dementia, mood and anxiety disorders, and obesity. Our technology fixes sleep at a neurological level - safely, easily, and effectively. The challenge: we are creating a new product category, and need to find a way to reach customers and explain the science behind our technology.
This is a BIG role for our company and strategically broader than many typical growth positions. You’ll report directly to the CEO, and you’ll weigh in on every aspect of our marketing strategy, including branding, product marketing, and pricing. And as we bring on new partners and retail channels, you’ll have opportunities to expand your scope even further.
This position is “office optional”. You can do this job remotely, but if you prefer an office environment, we’ve got a fantastic office and sleep lab in downtown Berkeley.
6+ years of consumer marketing experience
Has led growth for a consumer product starting at launch
Experience building and directly managing a marketing team
Record of success with a top-tier consumer brand
Experience with products distributed through physical retail channels
Passion for explaining science-based products to consumers
Experience at an early stage startup
Consumer device experience - wearable health and wellness devices would be ideal!
Experience launching products on crowdfunding platforms like Kickstarter
Branding experience is desired but not required - either with an agency or in-house brand team
Authentic passion for sleep health and neuroscience
